School Review

After a comprehensive study, the Government of Nova Scotia has introduced a new school review process.

The new school review process is grounded in a school board’s long-range outlook and focuses on public engagement and collaborative action.

Amendments to the Education Act to support and outline the new process were introduced in spring 2014 and took effect on October 17, 2014.

The School Review Policy can be found below.

Second Annual event supports Liver Foundation

West Hants MLA Chuck Porter, Windsor mayor Paul Beazley, Canadian Liver Foundation regional director Shayla Steeves and Diana Dill gear up Saturday before the Memory Walk for Howard Dill. (GLEN PARKER)

WINDSOR — Canadian Liver Foundation representatives, along with friends and family of the late Howard Dill, came together Saturday for the second annual Windsor walk in honour of the pumpkin king.

Dill was a four-time world champion grower and creator of the famous Dill’s Atlantic Giant seeds that have produced world-record pumpkins weighing more than 1,000 pounds. The College Road farmer died from liver cancer on May 20, 2008, and a carved wooden statue of Dill resides in downtown Windsor to recognize his legacy.

Just a reminder that the new school zone law is now in effect. The Safer School Zone Act means drivers will have to reduce speed in school areas to 30 km/h, in a 50 km/h zone, when children are present.
