Porter Pleased Hantsport Collaborative Practice Moving Ahead
March 12, 2012
The medical clinic in Hantsport has just received some very encouraging news. Officially called the Hantsport Collaborative Practice, the clinic lost Dr. Iona Wile last August, with the complete burden for patient care falling on the shoulders of Nurse Practitioner, Dawn Lowe. With patient files number close to 2,500 people, the task has indeed been hefty.
Dr. Hany Demian will now begin seeing patients on Thursday, March 15th, 2012. There will be an assessment period of several months to see how the practice grows, but it is anticipated that patient wait times will start to reduce from the current scenario. Dr. Demian currently works at the Emergency Dept. of the Hants Community Hospital in Windsor, and will be working two to three days per week in Hantsport for the next several months
Rick Morse, the General Manager of Cochrane's Pharmasave, speaks for the owners of the premises where the Hantsport clinic operates. "This is great news for the residents of the Hantsport area." Morse said. "The local population recently launched a letter campaign to the Dept. of Health and Wellness asking for a Family Physician. With a lot of hard work by Hantsport Town officials, and the support of the Hantsport and Area Business Association, we're delighted that steps in the right direction have taken place so quickly.""We're also please that Naturopath Dr. Ross Hermiston will begin seeing patients at the Hantsport clinic, within the next few weeks", Morse continued. "Offering the area's residents health care services from both traditional and alternative disciplines is a positive and innovative development."
"In addition, Certified Clinical Electrologist Ronda Best will begin seeing clients at the clinic within the next week or two, and Licensed Practical Nurse Cheryl Manzer will be seeing patients for blood collection and foot care services. Morse concluded by saying, "This is the true essence of a collaborative practice, and we're pleased that it's happening right here in Hantsport."
